Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public talker. Feminist Frequency is a site which hosts video and commentary discussing the way women are represented in the media and in popular media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has been awarded awards for her work, is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that examines female representations in popular culture narratives. Destroying stereotypes about women are the primary focus of her work. In addition, she is keen to draw attention to issues such as the harassing and targeted attacks against women who are online. Sarkeesian who has the degree of Master's in Political and Social Thinking at York University, is also a highly sought after public speaking. She has presented speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Attracted to issues related to gender identity and feminism from the age of 7, she started her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while she was still at University. An ambitious woman planned to create a web-series focused on gender representation in games. In the end, she came across herself the target of a harassment online campaign. But the assault did hinder her, instead it only bolstered her determination as a feminist media journalist. Her notable contributions to the feminist field are recognized with numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for several years and founded Feminist Frequency, an educational nonprofit that investigates gender representation in pop culture.
